I applied to University of North Carolina Wilmington 2 or 3 weeks ago. It says those who applied early action will be notified January 20th...but some of my friends are getting calls and letters from their colleges saying they were accepted.

I'm having trouble finding this on the site...but is really early notification a common practice or no?

Different colleges do it differently. I applied to UNCCH, and they say that you will be notified January 20th. However, my friend who was accepted there did mention that they do often post results on your page one or two weeks ahead of time, so definitely keep looking at it. But don't think just because other schools are giving decisions that you will hear yours--some of those offer 21 day notification, etc, so it might be something more like that.
