<p>it's hard for me to tell if this is updated or not. when you first open it it says something about "december 3rd, 2008" but obviously at the top it says "2010-2011"...can anyone tell me where they are getting the 21st date from?</p>

<p>If you are applying for first-year admission and you submitted your application by our first deadline of November 1 you’ll be notified of our decision by January 31; if you apply by our second deadline of January 15, you’ll hear our decision by March 20. If you are applying for transfer admission and meet our our March 1 deadline, you will be notified of our decision in mid-April.</p>
<p>I would start checking on March 20, but you need to know that UNC changed their computer system this year and have had numerous problems and delays. They were late with ED notification by a day or two, so don’t hold your breath.</p>
<p>I think that the change in the notification date (from Jan. 30 to Jan. 31) for early action this year was posted on the blog several weeks – at least one week – beforehand. So that may mean that they aren’t currently seeing any need to push the notification date later than the 20th. That would be nice!</p>
<p>The delay went beyond the 31st for ED for a lot of people. I just think we should be prepared for a delay and happy if it doesn’t materialize.</p>

<p>According to Julie in the UNC Admissions office on the UNC Admissions Blog today (March 16 @ 10:42 AM):</p>
<p>“Deferred students will receive a new decision at the same time as our second-deadline candidates, by March 21.”</p>

<p>My daughter got a rejection letter today from UNC. She is so upset…it was by far her first choice!</p>
