Hello, I am a full IB diploma candidate who got accepted to Harvard. When I was accepted my grades were:

Math HL- 5
Social A HL- 7
Econ HL- 7
Biology SL- 7
English SL- 6
Spanish ab SL- 6

Predicted 38/42

My grades for this semester, however, have droppeda b it

Math HL- 4
Social A HL- 6/7
Econ HL- 7
Biology SL- 6
EnglisH SL- 6
Spanish ab SL- 5

Predicted 34-35 / 42

Should I tell Harvard of the grade drop or is the grade drop not significant enough? Thanks

That's nothing to worry about, my friend.

That 4, however, looks atrocious.

apple2pie9 - you're required to send in your final semester grades, regardless. so keep your grades up! harvard probably won't rescind you (and I'm just speaking out of opinion, so don't take any weight on this from me), but it still doesn't look that good.

I can't imagine they rescinding you for that. HL Math is a truly difficult math course at most schools. A 4 is still a passing grade.

Thanks guys for the comments. I've been reading that colleges don't like seeing D's though. Would a 4 on IB be equivalent to a D? Any imput would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't think so. It is still passing, which I would think would mean C.

Are warning letters issued? If during the summer Harvard decides that my grades are bad, will I be given the opportunity to explain my decline? Or will I simply receive a rescination letter one day? Thanks

You would be asked to explain, but unless you had a really good answer (aka, I contracted mono and had to miss school for 4 weeks, which they would verify) then you'd probably be up a creek. Once they notice, it's probably too late. That being said, you would have to screw up in an EPIC fashion to get them to notice.

What's "epic", grade-wise? (Not talking about murdering one's parents or plagiarizing news articles or arrests or anything of that scheme here). A couple of Cs? Ds?

Would my grade drop be considered "EPIC"?

wow....are you serious with this thread?

And the short answer is "No."

yes, you will be rescinded and you will have to go to the nearest community college.... sorry.

what's with all of you saying "i dont know" and probably not? It's nothing. At all.
