Will I fit in at NYU?

I recently went on a tour of the nyu campus and loved it. I loved how youre basically independent and in the city. Assuming I get in, there was, however, one question about the lifestyle of the students there. I'm a rather athletic guy and fit somewhat into a jock type stereotype and from my observation I got more of a hipster artsy vibe from the students I saw. I'm aware nyu is very pro-gay and since it's in the city has a deeply rooted culture in it. I could care less what people's sexuality or race they are but none of the people I saw where the kind of people I would hang out with. Is the student body a little more diverse? Most of my friends are douchy dumbasses who like to party a lot. Are there these kind of people at NYU? Just curious...

…?

Your question isn’t getting a response cause it’s in the “state school” forum, not the NYU forum.
But honestly, you kind of answered your own question. A school’s reputation and vibe is kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you get the feeling that you won’t fit in there, chances are a lot of other people like you have felt the same way for the same reason and haven’t attended or applied because of it, maintaining the feel.
NYU has no traditional campus, and the frats arent really celebrated or appreciated. NYU also has a well-documented lack of school pride, and typically ignores their sports teams. Also, unfortunately, NYU has a strong history of freshman feeling isolated, lonely, and disconnected.
But college is what you make of it, so if you want to fit in you will. Try going to college ******* for an idea of what your various schools are like.

I mean bro here is how I see it. I am going there next year. I am the same way. There are thousands, i mean, thousands of people there. A school should be a place that you like and comfortable, there are always people youll match with my dud so I dont think that should be a concern
