SAT: 2310 (800 M, 780 W, 730 CR)
SAT2: 780 Spanish, 750 Math 2
GPA: 4.46 weighted, 3.52 unweighted at extremely rigorous private school
GPA in Intended Majors: 5 weighted, 4 unweighted
Class Difficulty: I always took the highest level offered and took an extra class twice
DOUBLE LEGACY
Recommendations: Strong
Essay: I think that it is pretty good, but I am not a great writer
Extracurriculars: Decent, but focused heavily around travel- language immersion/community service, Republican politics, sports, and student government
Alumni Interview: Very Good

Very solid. Low-ish GPA, but you go to a great school. Applying ED as a double legacy really helps. I think it’s a low reach, but a great chance nonetheless.

At Duke, legacy status helps, but – critically – not all legacies are equal. For example, the child of an alumnus who has not substantially participated in the life of the University, has not devoted significant time and talent to enhance Duke, and/or has not generously donated is less likely to receive any decisive advantage.

I’d be surprised if you don’t get in! GL :)

Unfortunately, we were all wrong. I don’t know what to do.

Hey man, that’s ok. I was deferred.

Not even a deferral. I mean, I was double legacy and had a 2310 SAT. What more did they want?

I feel the same way… I started a business that i run my self and that profited over 70k in a year and a half (with things I handmake myself)… guess that isn’t considered to be a good enough EC.

Wow! Are you a minority, state resident, etc…

Same boat as rest of you…

2300 SAT, founded club, varsity sports, etc…

Congrats to those who made it. Feeling a bit bitter, but life trudges on.

No, I am a white male from PA. I have had tons of family members go to Duke. I was expecting an acceptance and understanding that I could be deferred. Never in a million years did I expect to be outright rejected.

I can’t even bring myself to watch the basketball and football games for a while. For reference, as of an hour ago, I would never miss one.

Much of my family lives in NC, but that counts for nothing.

Watching the trend especially last year I have noticed a lot of 2200 and lower / 3.9 UW accepted and even more 2300+ / 3.5 UW rejected. They seem to put a lot of weight on what you did based on their perception of what you had to work with.

Guys I haven’t checked I can’t bring my self to do it. Seems like no hope for a 33 3.95

@10bio10 I have a 3.95 and a 33 and some solid ECs and I got deferred. You got this.

You have nothing to lose, go ahead and look… (My stats were similar to yours, and I am a current freshman here at Duke)

3.94 and 2250 here, deferred.
