I know I did pretty bad in my Freshman year and pretty much all of my high school carrer. Is there any chances into any UC's? If so which? What should I get on my SAT? 1500ish on the SAT. Taking another one on saturday.

your race doesn't matter to the UC system. Prop 209 did away w/ any race consideration in public U apps. You may have a shot at Merced but your cumulative GPA is >3.0 and that pretty much aces you out of the UC system. Cll admissions at UCM and talk with them if they give you some hope go for it. If not, I would advise CSU or CC if you want to go public. Your GPA shows an upward trend so some of the less selectve privates may be a good choice too. But if you go to CC and get your AA while completing the requirments for a transfer agreement you are in. That's the beauty of the CC/UC marriage. If you want the dorm experience check out the California Community College website and look for CCs with dorms. If dorms don't matter to you, look at Cabrillo Colege. If you want to go to UCSC eventually you will find other students there in the same boat. Good Luck!

^ Some very good advice. Merced is likely the only UC that could be within reach. The lower tier CSUs may also be possible. Personally, the fact that you found this website and realize you could have done better, I would recommend you go to a CCC and actually prove yourself that you are smart and can do it, and transfer to any UC (LA.Cal.SD). Keep in mind you will need a relatively high GPA (3.5ish or anything above would be good). Best of luck to you.

They are right in a sense man, but my advice to you would be fall back on your personal statement and get the best grades that you can in your senior year. Your personal statement is going to have to be pretty bomb in order for you to have a real chance at getting into any UC period considering your grades. Even though they have prop 209 out there its not like there arent ways around it, and whos to say that they still dont make decisions that are sometimes in favor of certain races, but yeah my real advice to you would be just right a really really good personal statement and join as many clubs as possible and just hope for the best.

Also, do consider the CSU schools, or even out of state schools on the East Coast cause on the east coast things like race, sex, sexuality, ect... do play a big role in the admission process

But just remember keep a postive outlook on the whole college thing, and that it will eventually all work out for you

OP - your UC GPA is 2.85. That is the 5 a-g courses each semester. The D is geometry is the killer. I fyou could possibly retake that for an A, it would bring your UC GPA up to 3.0, the minimum standard required to apply to a UC.

Anyway, under 3.0 is supposed to go to Community College, or Cal State as mentioned above.

Yeah, everyone is basically right. If anything, you have a slight chance for Merced or Riverside. This year was pretty damn hard to get into the UC system. My friend got rejected for UC Santa Cruz with a 3.5 and a 1750... ish. So, Im guessing that it will be pretty hard for you to get in, but you definately still have a chance.

You should take the classes that you got D's in over again, and maybe try to get a bit of a higher SAT score. Maybe take some classes. That REALLY helped me. (But if you do take classes go to the Princeton Review and not Elite. Elite actually made my score go down. lol)

he got turned down with a 3.5 and a 1750? dang. my friend had about a 3.2 and 1700 and shes in....

but Dwijesh, you HAVE to retake geometry. easy class you can do it! theres no chance you will get into a school with the D's standing, not even merced or riverside. they want to see those credits replaced.

and take the sats seriously. study study study. that could be ur way in man!

yeah. there is a point because if you get bad grades and still think your going to college, you're kidding yourself.

trust me, I know it's hard to get through, but read the posts on here about people who have gotten their acceptance revoked. It sucks, and there isnt much you can do once it happens.

Thanks guys. My goal this semester is to get a 4.0 and I know I will because I know I can. Also once I apply there's no way there going to check my Senior grades to take in consideration?
