I have a 1740 SAT. 690 Math 540 Critical Reading 510 Writing. 3.50 FSU GPA. 7 AP Classes taken/currently taken. 9 honors classes taken. I go to school in NJ. I am currently in AP Calc BC, AP Physics, AP Gov & P, and AP Comp Science. I am on the Varsity baseball team, life scout in boy scouts. What are my chances? I find out December 17th.

Your course rigor is a good thing but your SAT score and GPA are pretty low. It is also a lot harder to get into FSU if you live out of state but i think you may have a chance. Good luck and only one more week!

I am almost in the middle 50. Out of it by 10 points. How is it low

The middle 50% range is from the 25th percentile to the 75th percentile. If you’re not in that middle 50% because your score is lower than the range, it means that your SAT is in the bottom 25% of what is accepted. That’s low. While your math score is phenomenal, your reading and writing score are in the bottom 25% of what is accepted. Your SAT score overall is in the middle 50% range thanks to your math score.

The biggest problem for you is the GPA. A 3.5 FSU GPA is very low.

Overall, I’d expect you to be deferred for the December decisions.

This is my view on it. Overall I am very nervous and not very confident I will get in next week. FSU says that GPA and Rigor of Classes is very important to them and test scores are important. I like to call those the big three. My test score is high enough that it shouldn’t be a reason to not admit me, but maybe I am wrong. Second, I have one of the most challenging course rigor, a high school student can have. So that’s 2/3. Last, my FSU GPA is low, I get it. But hopefully they factor in that I challenged myself a lot and that is part of the reason for my low GPA. I have an upward grade trend and class rigor trend each and every year of high school. I truly don’t know what to expect, but I think I have a strong case.

FYI, I know what middle 50% means haha
