i am a New York State student who has a 75.43 unweighted average, is that a good enough average to make it into maybe a SUNY school or maybe a HBCU(yes i’m considering them) or do i have to attend community college ? people say i have good activities, good sat scores, great letters of recommendation and a nicely written essay.
anybody ?
Google “Common Data Set + name of college” and look at section C. Compare your SAT and GPA with admitted students. You need to apply to a couple of colleges where your within the 75th percentile (reaches) and a couple where you are within the 25th percentile (matches). In Virginia I think you could look at Radford University ( near VA Tech) and Longwood University ( about an hour west of Richmond). There are probably some comparable schools in NY state. There are a ton of privates that will admit you if you can afford them. Did you get any brochures when you took the SAT?
Check the [SUNY admissions summary](https://www.suny.edu/media/suny/content-assets/documents/summary-sheets/Admissions_qf_stateop.pdf) for each school’s GPA and test ranges. You may want to start at a cc to makesure you have a strong foundation in your core classes.
i just found my GPA is a 2.0, can i at least make into a HBCU or do i have to attend a CC.
i also have a great college essay, tons of extra curricular activities i done, and great letters of recommendation.
