My son has received aid packages from two different schools that are about $8000 different in grant/scholarship aid. Of course the lower offer is from the school that he would prefer. He plans to call and see if he can get the preferred school to up their offer. My fear is that, even if they do, then for the remaining 3 years they will go back to the lower amount. Does anyone have experience with this? If so, do they tend to continue with the increased amount, or revert to the original offer?
I know there are many variables, but I am presuming that our FAFSA EFC will remain about the same over the 4 years.
Thanks.

That is something he needs to ask. Can the grant/scholarship be locked in for four years or not, and on what terms. Does he need to maintain a particular GPA or stay in a particular major? Is it a fixed amount of money, or a fixed percentage of the tuition/fees/room/board/whatever? If your FAFSA EFC remains unchanged for all four years, what can he expect his package to look like for the remaining years?
