Will it make any difference?

Will it make a difference if I applied and stated that I am a proficient handbell player? ND has a handbell choir, and my sister currently is a member of the group. She did the same as me when she applied and got accepted. Its really a shot in the dark, and I'm looking for that intagible to get me in.

Would it be wise to merely contact the handbell choir director and inform her that, if accepted, I would be glad to become a member of the choir? Maybe I can solicit her for help in the admissions process, in a unnoticeable fashion?

I'm desperate to get in. In love with ND.

No one…really?

Bump my own thread…anyone at all?

I can’t say how much adding that to your application will help your case in itself. However, I can say that contacting the director of the choir will not do you any good as she has no pull in the admissions process.

(I play bells, too!)

Unfortunately, I don’t think it will make too much of a difference. You do not need to have experience to play in ND’s handbell choir, and it’s not really the kind of activity where they would “recruit” students. And as jasonpham said, the director would not be involved in the admissions process at all.

Best of luck.

Aww…darn.

It might give you a little bit of distinction, but you would also need stellar scores, more ECs, and a lot of service. Also, a kick-butt admission essay. ND puts a lot of weight on that, I’ve heard.
