My son applied to MITES last year and was waitlisted. He’s finishing his MIT application now and asked me to proof his essays. There’s some overlap in the essays he wrote for MITES, so I’m wondering whether his MITES application might be seen or added to his regular application file. I know they’re separate applications, but if I were an admissions rep, I can imagine some value in looking at both, if it’s a close decision. If so, it might be worth his while to choose another (different) example for one of the questions. (One of them already expands on something he wrote about last year, so it’s a nice complement to show his progress, I think.)
