I recently have been admitted to UCSB through the TAG program. However, one of my GE courses I took this semester didn’t go well and I received a NP. This will leave me 2 units short of 60 semester units. Is this fightable in an appeal process if for some reason my admission becomes rejected? The GE is completely unrelated from my major and won’t prevent me from completing my IGETC.
Not having the minimum 60 semester units will be an big issue. I suggest you contact UCSB admissions and find another 2 unit course to take immediately.
Well, you will likely lose the TAG, so then it depends on your GPA and if SB regular admissions is willing to let you come in with less than 60. You can appeal, if rejected. Some people up here have been successful.
Yes I will be able to take summer courses. There are some 4 and 6 week courses I can crush out to get the minimum 60 units. Is my TAG still void if I get 60 units over the summer?
@Gccucsb I’m pretty sure you usually can’t make up TAG requirements during the summer before you transfer. They admitted you expecting 60 units by the end of Spring.
@Gccucsb the TAG rules are 60 by end of spring. They will not make an exception. However, as I said, you will roll over to regular admission and it is then their decision. If you got in via TAG with a relatively low GPA (lower than the mid-range) there may not be much incentive to give you a break (if they were to do that at all).
