So a friend brought this up to me a few weeks ago; Is it true that my chances of transfer for Fall 2010 will be lower because I won't have thirty hours until after Spring 2010? Apparently UT has only a certain number of slots for Transfers, and if we don't have 30 hours of transferable credit our admission won't even be reviewed until they get our new transcript, therefore allowing prospective transfers WITH 30 hours after Fall 2009 to be taking our slots. I assume that transfers with 30 hours already will have received their acceptances already or will in the near future.

i went through this last semester. i had 27 hours when i applied and they needed my last transcript to show i had completed the 30 hours and was accepted 5 days before orientation. i think it depends on what school youre trying to get to… i dont think youll suffer though, i didnt. except for the fact that i found out pretty late.

Remember UT wants the best candidates. They don’t want to accept a lesser candidate at the expense of a better candidate, simply because the former’s required transcripts arrived a few months earlier. They have formulas and projections they can do with their databases to minimize effects like this.

The folks getting acceptance notices in March are presumably the top candidates.

So you’ll get a fair look.
