For self-study assistance, you may want to investigate the OCW (Open Course Ware) website of M.I.T. IT"S FREE. By the way, why don’t you also take Xraymancs’s advice and investigate IIT? Or do you simply want to get away from home for college?

Admission at Illinois-Urbana is really tough for state residents, let alone out-of-state transfers

UIUC engineering has an “Engineering Pathways” program with a number of regional CC’s and the individual CC links have some some standard course sequences to follow while enrolled at the CC.

Also, UIUC advisers tell students to check the “Transferology” website.
Indeed, I was simply pointing out that universities usually have articulation agreements with their “feeder” community colleges. Iowa gets a lot of students from the Chicago area and Illinois in general and they likely have transfer agreements.
Hey guys I currently attend a community college and I graduate with my associates degree after I complete my calculus II class this summer. I missed the deadline for my dream school university of Iowa so now my plan is to take classes in the fall which will be calculus III and spring semester I will take Physics 235 so in the fall of 2016 I can go off to a university. I am taking one class a semester so I can maintain my 4.0 GPA. In the Fall of 2015 while I take physics will apply to way more schools as well as many many scholarships. I have already contacted the university about my question and I just wanted to know if anyone did this before I am now waiting on the university of engineering counselor to reply. My counselors are all telling me I am done and I should move on to the next level, a university. However I would rather complete some of my prerequisites for engineering at a community college so In the fall 2015 I could apply to way more schools as well as scholarships. I will still be considered a transfer student in junior standing as a engineer at university of Iowa because I will be done with the prequistes set for a engineer student on their site. What do you guys think is this a smart choice? Also I have to pay out of pocket for my next three classes because my financial aid will lock up. I am so confused this semester guys I just want to make the right decision I know I’m not strong at math but if I take it one semester at a time I will become a mathematicain. So how is my plan and wouldn’t I still be s transfer student? Thanks guys
How many credits do you have already? If you have 60, then it is time to transfer because you will not be able to transfer more than that number to a 4 year school.
@xraymancs I currently have 58 credits which are mainly my general education courses, but I have only taken General Chemistry I and Calculus Analytic and Geometry I toward my core requirements for Mechanical Engineering. I still have Physics, Calculus II and III to go. Also I was going to take a Physics II class as well.
As I said, you may not be able to transfer all of them but it seems reasonable to take the Math and Physics that you are missing to be a second year Engineering student. Be prepared to spend up to 3 years in the Engineering program since some of the required sequences are 6 semesters.
Hey everyone @xraymancs @LakeWashington @IlliniDad18 I want to thank you all for giving me so much meangingful advice. Your advice has really helped me. So just to keep you all updated, I am just one week away from completing Calculus II and possibly earning a “B”. Next semester which is Spring of 2016, how do you think Physics 235 and Calculus 3 sounds together? I also was offered a Biology Supplemental Instructor job which will help me pay for my classes since I will not be using Financial aid next semester. Also I was accepted into University of Iowa Honors Mechanical Engineering program and Purdue University. I applied to UIUC but they want to see my final grades for this semester so I want know my acceptance until mid April… Anyways I will be sending my application to Illinois Institute of Technology off no later then next week. I heard that IIT offers a presidential scholarship to Phi Theta Kappa members which would be so very helpful. So once I complete my classes in the Spring of 2016 I will be ready to transfer to a university in the Fall of 2016.
I presume you are referring to Multivariate Calculus. This is a good choice. It will really give you a taste of the intensity you will be facing in an engineering curriculum. Congratulations on your admission to Iowa and Purdue. Hopefully they can give you a financial aid package that will give you choices about where to go. I am not sure about whether there are any official deadlines for your decision as there are for entering Freshmen but you definitely need to take your time and find the best combination of finances and curriculum for you.
Congratulations.
Pat yourself on the back. Best wishes for continued success.
Great outcome, probably better than I thought. Take hard classes or self study to get ready to make the most of which ever of the great choices you chose to pursue.
