I currently attend CSUN and after a year, I will most likely end with a 2.4 GPA, due to my awful spring semester. Even though CSUN is a great school, today I was posed with a once in a lifetime opportunity. My aunt who is a CSUN alumnus knows how unhappy I was at CSUN because this was the only school I could afford(full-time worker who pays for schooling). The opportunity that I received is that my aunt and her husband are offering to pay for my tuition at any other institution I cannot afford. In order to make this happen I must go to a CCC , receive nothing less than perfect grades, and transfer. My aunt knows that this will truly make me happy and does not want to see me regret compromising as she once did. I was wondering even if I do receive amazing grades for 2 years, will my cumulative affect my admission into UC's such as UCD or UCSD? Would my chances be greater with LMU or Pepperdine? I only received one F at CSUN in my business calculus class because I did not attend class for 3 weeks after my aunts death and fell behind. I would love to hear some success stories or an an honest opinion. Hope to hear from you all soon!

Bump!!!

Kinda on the same boat! I’m from SJSU and I attended for 1 semester. About a 2.9 GPA. From what I’ve heard, it does doom you because it’s averaged in.

Say I were to attend a JC and receive a 4.0 my overall GPA after a year would be 3.21. Adding another semester would raise it to a 3.37, and 2 years at the community college would have me at a 3.47? Not good enough for UCSB or UCSD?

You can tap UCSB , but UCSD it might depend on your major. Considering if you could raise it to a 3.47.

I attended a csu and had ~2.1 gpa around 5 years ago. I took a break from school, changed my major from music to math, and switched to a cc.

I was accepted to ucsd, ucla, cal poly, etc for next fall.

I think you’ll be fine as long as you have a high gpa from here on out, complete all the pre req courses, and do well in them.

The only grade holding down this semesters GPA is the business calculus class I failed. If I were to take it over again at a Junior College will it nullify my old grade? If so my AVG would be much higher and would take less time in order to raise it
