Will my discipline record keep me from getting in?

I have been looking at applying to two state colleges in Connecticut, Uconn and Central Connecticut State University. I want to major in Civil Engineering. My academics were pretty good freshman year, about a 93 average. Sophomore year was bad, which I will explain more about. Then in junior year, I got high honors the first two terms and honor roll last term on my report card, and I expect I will do the same this year as a senior. The reason I'm extremely worried now is that I looked at the admissions applications and you have to put down a description of any suspensions you've ever had. Sophomore year was a "Life Changing" year. I failed gym class, and got bad grades the first and second terms, but then after my suspension I realized I was being lazy, and I got all A's or B's, which brought my final grades up a little bit. Ok, on to the part why I am posting this thread, my suspension. I am extremely worried that this will keep me from getting in, especially now. I was suspended for 10 days out of school, technically for racial slurs. I gave a kid a copy of a cd I bought that was racially hurtful and harassing,(racist). The kid got caught with it in school, and told them I gave it to him. The cd cover had members of a certain organization on it with non friendly song titles. I admitted to it, and was technically charged by the school for racial slurs, and symbols unacceptable in any state public high school. I took the punishment very seriously, and the school found the event to be a stupid mistake. This was a life changing event, and I am truly a better person, and have learned greatly from my mistake. I have since then excelled in school, with junior year being great, and I have been involved in leadership organizations at my school, since a freshman, and I volunteered during the junior year summer at a senior center kitchen every other day. Below I will list the main academic classes I have and am taking, not including electives.

9th Algebra 1 ---- Honors Global Studies ---- English 1 ---- Physical Science(Not physics)
10th Honors Geometry ---- Honors Civics ---- English 2 ---- Biology
11th Honors Algebra 2 ---- Honors U.S. History ---- English 3 ---- Microbiology ---- Spanish 1
12th Honors Precalculus ---- Honors Economics ---- English 4 ----- Honors Chemistry ----Psychology/Sociology

I have excelled in all my math courses, getting final grades of 90 or above in each one, did about the same in social studies, English is good, b+ average, and science, I did bad in sophomore year but b+ or better other years. I did fail gym sophomore year, but did summer school and received a 100 on it. I got a 1590 on my latest Sat's, but I will be taking them again and am confident I can get a 1800, I have been studying A LOT. Other than the discipline listed above, I have NEVER been in trouble, no talking back, and all the teachers I have or have had will write recommendations attesting to me being a good student, and haven't even received a detention. My attendance could be better, I used the limit of 12 unexcused absences allowed at my school almost every year, last year I had about 9 or 10. OK, so now that I have described my entire situation, how much do you think the suspension is going to impact my admission into Uconn or CCSU, when I have to write a letter explaining the event. I thank you in advance for your replies, they will be greatly appreciated.
