just wondering if you don't apply for financial aid, will it help? colleges really like students that can afford full ride right??

also, is there a definite cut-off line for financial aid? eg, net household income over 150K usd.. would that be an instant NO?

btw, if you read this, please respond!

There is no definite cutoff line. If you apply for aid, they'll consider alot of factors in addition to income. For example, if your family has more than one child in college, that could increase your chances for aid. And alot of colleges (including HYP) have data available that show the percentage of students who receive aid according to income, and there are always some students with incomes 100k+ who receive aid. Granted, the packages are usually alot less than say, a student from a background with less than 40k, but they do receive money.

That being said, yes, you'll probably be a more appealing candidate if you can pay the sticker price simply because that saves the college money. But should their entire decision regarding your acceptance hinge upon the fin aid request? No.

And some schools even claim that ad coms never find out about requests for finaid, as its a different process all together.
