The title basically sums it up. I have taken Honors Bio and Honors Chem and am currently taking AP Enviro. I am interested in studying Psychology in college, and for that reason I was going to take AP Bio senior year; HOWEVER, I have heard that it is detrimental not to take a physics course. How true is this, and if so, should I take AP Physics next year with no previous experience in physics?
Short answer - it depends. The more selective the college, the more likely that they will require/recommend at least a year each of bio/chem/physics regardless of future major.
AP Physics 1 requires no previous knowledge of physics.
Is AP Enviro your science class for the year? Our HS students take physics 1 or 1&2 as a junior. AP Enviro would be a weak science compared to AP Physics or AP Bio. It is considered more of an elective that happens to be a science, and I get the impression competitive colleges look at it the same way.
At top-tier schools? Yes. For less than top-tier, probably not. Also, which schools are you referring to?
Yes, I am taking AP Environmental Science as my science class because I was under the impression that it was a science class over an elective.
