Something has been worrying me for the upcoming application season. I have taken two SAT subject tests: US History and Biology. I got a 780 on USH but a 650 on Biology. I really want to take Math 2 so I can have a second strong subject test to send. However, we all know College Board takes forever to grade everything, and I am very worried that CB will not have this test graded in time for me to send my application. What do I do? I don’t want to hinder my chances at top schools because of a weak subject test.
They shoud be out October 20. There is is always some risk of delay. They should undoubtedly be out in time for regular admisison applications.
If you are planning to apply early decision or early action with an early Nov application deadline, then check the college’s actual rules to determine whether you may have anything to be concerned about. For most, scores can arrive after Nov 1 , and you are usually good if they get there by Nov 10, and some even accept Nov test scores, thus giving you until last week of November to get scores in. However, there are a small number of colleges, UMich is one, that want the scores in their hands by the application deadline. You should be good for even those if scores come out when they should in Oct but possibly have some risk that scores will not be released in time.
Also note, that if you want delivery to occur as fast as possible then you should name the college in your test application as one to automatically receive scores upon release. That actually results in the scores being sent to the colleges a day or two before they are released to you online.
@drusba The past SAT took from June to mid-July to release. Are you sure they are going to have these scores released in under three weeks? It would be great, but I have my doubts.
They introduced the new SAT in March and that one had a very late release date. But it was not an unplanned delay. It was the release date provided before the test was given… The same happened for the May and June tests. It appears CB purposefully chose the late dates to assure the test went smoothly and sytems and persons involved in grading it became familiar with the process during this time of the year when no one really needs scores sent quickly to colleges. However, CB is claiming that come fall, the schedules will be back to normal and has provided the Oct 20 release date for that October 1 test. One would think that even if something happens to prevent the SAT from being released Oct 20, CB would still release subject test scores.Nevertheless, all we can do is wait and see.
