Hi, I got accpeted to Occidental College ED last December, but I’m very anxious right now because my grades are dropping. The classes I’m taking right now and the expected final grades for each are:
Ap calc ab - B
Ap macro - B
Ap chem - C
Ap enviromental science - B
Spanish 4(regular) - A
English 4(regular) - A
I’ve already gotten one C last semester. Would these grades get me rescinded? I’ve heard that a C or two isn’t a big deal, but wasn’t sure if Oxy is the same. Thanks
No. Don;t get a D. Don’t commit a crime. Don’t have lied on your application. Other than that, you should be good to go. Good luck.
You should be fine. Work a little harder. The general rule is no D or F grades, though some very selelctive colleges might possibly rescind admission for several Cs. . Senioritis is not a real ailment.
Keep working. I am an OXY soph and had the same problem though I was not ED. Now I am applying to Columbia and expect to be able to transfer as I will feel more at home in New York in a more inclusive environment. For me, admissions did require a letter of explanation (In August). I explained that I was partying and was getting it out of my system. Also made the point that my father was an alcoholic and that had cleaned me up (from alcohol) LOL
I do think it is more a problem if you are not paying full freight. I was as I had local benefactors who gave scholarships to my high school. If you are getting a lot of financial aid I would be a little more worried.
AO’s will not be rescinding based on FA. Let’s not derail the topic.
