I am currently a ninth grader and I plagiarized a major writing assignment, but my grade in that class is 84%. Will it go on my permanent college transcript and will it affect my chances of going to my dream college which is UC Davis?
Probably not. Unless you got suspended for it. Just don’t get any recommendations from a teacher who knows about this.
ok thanks @bksoccer7
And don’t plagiarize again!
ok i promise @TomSrOfBoston
If this was in college you would be in deep trouble. Will this be on your transcript? In my school, cheating(not like copying homework but like using your phone on a test for answers) or doing something illegal in school will be reported on your transcript.
so it might not go on my permanent transcript? @ready4college78
It shouldn’t but it really depends on your school and how serious you plagiarized. I would ask. You didn’t copy paste an entire essay right? Always remember to cite your sources.
How bad was it? If it was through one of those “turn it in” and you got, you know, like 50-60% percent, that’s one thing, but it’s another if you bought an essay from one of those websites or copied someone’s from the year above you. The second is much worse. You can excuse the first through improper citation, the second is willful plagiarism, and my school sends out a report of transgressions which includes that, I’m pretty sure. What exactly happened?
I was writing an essay and like 53% of it I copied from the internet and the rest I wrote by myself. @aeather
Is it really bad? @aeather
Well, it’s definitely not great, but it’s not terrible. 53% is a high percentage, yes, but it’s not ridiculous. I wouldn’t worry about it. You’re only a freshman, you can learn from your mistakes, and as long as you keep your grades up, UC Davis is definitely a possibility.
Ok thank you I was really worried!!! @aeather
