Will quitting a sport senior year impact my chances of getting into college?

So I have been playing soccer since freshman year and I (at first) enjoyed it. I wasn't anything special, but I was a starter and did contribute. I never did end up getting to Varsity though and our team gives Varsity to those seniors who have been with them since the start.

However, my schedule has become severely constricted for senior year, even moreso than junior year. My course load is more rigorous with 5 (possibly 6) APs, my boss is requiring me to work more hours, I have begun to volunteer at the hospital and conduct research at Kean University this summer (which I greatly enjoy) which will spill over into the year, I have gotten on the Eboards of the 5 clubs that I have been in since freshman year, and I need to study for SAT retakes/Subject Tests.

So the point is, will not doing soccer senior year affect my chances of getting into a good college? I did it because I liked it, but I was never really good at it and I never expected to get money for it. Will my other extracurriculars make up for it if I decide to stop senior year. I mean, 3 years is good enough right?

Id say it would be similar to quitting a club unless your being recruited of course but that is not the case here. I did the same thing with football this year after playing a decade. If you enjoy doing though i would recommend staying and if not the find other things you like.

Yeah, it’s just that my schedule is restricted and this was the EC that I accomplished the least in. I did it more for fun/exercise than anything. I don’t want to become too overworked and have my grades/other ECs suffer as a result.

Make your decision and dont look back. Quitting football was hard for me but i found things to do and i look forward to the future.

Colleges like students who do what they love and love what they do. Be such a student. Don’t do any EC just to look good for college. Quit soccer, don’t tank senior year, and get some sleep.
