I’m currently a senior in high school and I’ve already applied to my colleges. So far I have heard back from CSU San Bernardino & UCR. My problem is that on my application I put down that I would do swim and girls water polo but I couldn’t continue due to the fact I decided to take 4 AP classes & 2 science classes this year and I am organizing a field trip for my AP lit class. However I am involved in other extracurriculars such as NHS, Hospice volunteering, AVID club, Ethics club, & solar cup. Will quitting swim and polo affect my acceptance to UCR and my chances of getting into UCLA, UCSD, & UCD. My GPA was also a 4.1.
The best thing for you to do is to email all the schools you applied to about the change in your extracurricular. The most likely scenario is that the schools won’t think much about it; however, if you did deliberately try to hide this from them and if they do manage to find out, I could foresee more dire consequences.
No, I don’t think it is like dropping a class where you would have to inform them. I think the EC are just expectations you have at the time of admission. You aren’t recruited so it won’t matter. Didn’t you think to ask your GC?
I did and she said that I needed to inform them but I was still worried cause I’m going into a competitive major
