to be honest, junior year might also cause them slight concern… and yes, those senior year grades are definitely going to have a very negative impact.

ur not screwed, but maybe colleges that have less than 30% admission are not as possible. I’d say you have a good shot at anything that has a 40%-60% admission if you can explain the grades

So, I live in NJ. Can I still get into Rutgers? And does it help that I’m ranked #2 in my graduating class of 731 kids? And, what about places like NYU and Penn State?

Hold the phone. Even with the junior year grades your rank is 2? Your high school must be one of the most competitive in the Country. Given that and your great scores, you should get into some very good colleges in spite of this year. You need to work closely with your counselor and pull up the grades dramatically next semester. I still highly doubt a top 20, but a top 50 should be doable if indeed you’re at a top school.

I’m sure you can explain your bad grades and why you got them in an addendum somewhere or something. But like someone else said, your junior year is what killed you for Ivy’s, especially considering the competitiveness these days.

I don’t really understand you people who say junior year’s gonna kill this kid. Are B+ really bad or is it the downhill pattern of grade that you are saying is bad?
