i have a 3.6 gpa and i will apply as a cognitive science major and a psych alternate major as a transfer. i am taking the pre-reqs for those majors, but i have also taken calc 1, calc 2, calc 3, and have gotten A’s in calc 1 and 3 but a B in calc 2. i did this because i was originally majoring in something else. will this increase my chances of getting in as a psych or cog sci major compared to other applicants ?
As a UC transfer applicant, transfer GPA and completion of the major related (Cognitive Science/Psych) and GE requirements will be important. Taking difficult courses not required for transfer will not make you a better transfer applicant but just a goood overall student so unlikely to increase your chances.
