I am a freshman in AP Calculus BC, in a public school system.

I have grades of at least 95 in every single one of my classes (all Honors/Pre-AP except for Art, Tennis, and Electronics), EXCEPT for AP Calculus BC.

I have no problem with Pre-Calculus or Calculus' prerequisites. The calculus tests are just so time-consuming and they take me longer to finish than the fast, "smart" seniors. Most of the "average" seniors can't finish the test either. (We're a class of ~13 students)

I have an 87 in Calculus this six-weeks-MP, but I got a 99 in the last six-weeks-MP. This brings my semester average down to a 93. In every single one of my other classes my semester average so far is a 98.

I have a question:
Will my other core-class teachers begin to doubt me, as well as counselors who like my abilities, and college admissions officers? Will I be asked to get pulled out of the class?

I put in a lot of effort in Calculus, and I really care about my grades and relationships with my teachers.

And as a question of last, final resort:
Can I take the AP Calculus AB exam even though I've taken the BC class?

No, no, and yes, but you shouldn’t, as the BC test has an AB portion in it. And there’s no point in taking both tests unless you took AB first.

Stop worrying, you really think your teachers will look down on you 'cause you have a 93 in Calc BC? I doubt your teachers will even look at exactly what percentage you got on your tests. Your teachers do not base their opinions of you on your grade. Rather, they base it off your personality and willingness to learn.

I honestly don’t know what you want us to tell you, unless you’re fishing for compliments. You ought to be fully aware that students don’t “get pulled out of class” for a 93.

You really have no shot of graduating high school at this point, much less getting into any type of college. You should just get out now and apply to McDonald’s, which is a solid match for you. Maybe send an application to Chipotle for a reach if you’re feeling lucky.

I feel that was a little harsh, Whan. I was in the eighth grade, and it was my very first visit to College Confidential… c’mon.

But I’m really serious when I say that I’m terrified of counselors pulling me out of the class if my grades don’t stay as A’s.

I’ve seen that some of the best students in my 8th grade geometry class were 7th graders, constantly making perfect scores on everything they touched.

OMG. Do you not know that your 93 in Calc BC as a freshman will RUIN your chances at MIT and Caltech!!! What is wrong with you??? You absolutely have NO HOPE AT ALL for any of the scientific schools or the Ivy League! Hopefully, you won’t end up at some damn community college or worse… McDonald’s! Get rid of that 93 on your record - QUICKLY
