Will the schools I apply to see which college within my uni I attended?

I did my first year at a school with awful academics but a really amazing theatre BFA program. I'm transferring (for different majors), ideally to somewhere like UMass Amherst (but I'll also be applying to some really selective northeast schools) in the spring, but i'm thinking of attending the local university for fall semester.

It's much better academically, i won't have to pay for housing, cheaper, etc...but since i missed most deadlines, i can only apply to their social science (social work college). I'll just be doing geneds through the university itself while I'm there, but will colleges see/care that I attended this specific college between schools? It has nothing to do with my intended majors after I do my REAL transfer, but I'll seriously only be taking geneds (through the whole uni, no less. I won't really have anything to do with the college itself, except that I'm enrolled there)

Will the schools I apply for Spring semester to care? I should add that my local university has a really strong reputation for rigorous academics.

To start with, why do you think you have to be in college this fall if the only place you can study is a university that can’t even admit you for the major that you ultimately want to pursue? Would it not make more sense to take some time off and come up with a list that includes at least one decent safety (possibly that same U, but in a division that you could stay in for your degree)? If you think you have to be in college this fall, what is wrong with a community college? That would almost certainly be cheaper, and you would have a team of transfer experts to help you get ready for the next step in your education.

The school I’m currently enrolled at (the first one) has very low academic standards. I know I will do just fine at a more rigorous university given my high school performance and my very high gpa at this current school, but i’m afraid school I would like to ultimately end up with will simply see good grades at an easy school. so, cc is not something i’m extremely interested in. or time off.

i’ll be covering geneds (and ideally a german class, one of my intended majors. I’m pretty far along with skill and credits to either test out of or transfer credits for a few german classes wherever i end up) still, and whatever major required course I might have to take (they actually do a trial period before you can declare the major, so it shouldn’t be more than one or two) might be able to transfer as a social science credit.

Really, a semester off makes more sense. There is no guarantee whatsoever that any of the credits at U2 will transfer to U3. You could end up wasting your tuition money. Now if you could be happy graduating from U2 if the rest of the application process goes wrong, that is another thing entirely.

With only one year of college, your high school record will still be extremely important at most places that you would apply to for transfer. Remember, when the transfer applications go out for Spring Semester, you would have barely begun your classes at U2. No one there will know you to write an LOR. You won’t have any grades to show, just the list of classes you are enrolled in for the fall. In other words, the only records available would be from your HS and your BFA program at U1.

If you planned to attend U2 for at least two semesters and to apply to U3 for fall 2015 admission, then you would have grades from the first semester at U2, and possibly an LOR from a professor, as well as the list of courses registered for for spring semester.
