Will these AP scores hurt me?

i am a rising junior and wanted to get feed back on my AP scores. I took my first two during sophmore year, AP Euro and AP Pysch. I got a 3 on both. This is a big suprise becasue i was expecting much higher on psych. Will these scores hurt my colleges chances overall for UCB, UCLA, and maybe Stanford. i am taking 3 more ap's next year and was wondering if i should retake psych.

come on guys, please help

i think you should be alright, i don’t think colleges use AP scores for admission (someone correct me if I’m wrong) however if you intend on receiving credit for those classes I’d say that’s a long shot

supergeek is mostly right, AP scores during the application process are essentially self-reported, they can help and you can choose whether or not to report them. If your looking at Stanford 3s are a pretty weak score (particularly for psych where 50% of test takers are gettings 4s and 5s) and you should really try to get some 5s in your junior year which is going to be most important. Retaking AP exams tends to be a hassle, i would only do it if you are looking to get college credit for the classes.

You should be fine. I got 2’s on AP Lang and Lit.

@Ucberkeley017 You may want to talk to your guidance counselor about it. My county has a really stupid (but beneficial for some) policy where each school must code the first free period as “Latin 1” and the second as “Latin 2”, with potential increases across years.

You’re fine, colleges don’t really care about your AP scores that much. Don’t stress out over it.

Colleges don’t use AP scores for admission. The fact that you took the class is far more important. 3 is a decent score on the AP, it’s not great, but its not horrible. If you get a 2 or a 1 I would suggest not sending those scores simply because they are not good.

Colleges only use AP scores when placing you in classes.

I don’t think colleges pay that much attention to AP scores.

My son took 14 AP classes, with lots of 4’s and 5’s, and I don’t think that it did him that much good.

So I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

A “3” is not horrible, so I think you are OK.

thanks guys, i has no idea that you get to choose which ones to send. also, when i was taking the test, our proctor told us to fill in the codes of colleges that we wnated to go to. if you fill in specific codes for a certain college(i didnt do it), will that college automatically see that score or do you still chosse wether to send it to them or not.
