Will They Think She Slacked Off?

My senior daughter pushed her two semesters of honors science to the second semester of the year because of a scheduling conflict. How will this look to adcoms? She now has AP ABCalc; APGov; APLatin; Hon. Eng. Next semester, she'll have all of these in addition to her sciences? Should she explain this somehow on the common app.? Should she ask her gc to explain?

HELP?!?!

Don't applications show course selections for both semesters? If so, adcoms will see that her heavier workload will come in the second half of the year. I don't think they'd give it a second thought; if they did, they'd probably just presume that scheduling conflicts kept her from taking a more evenly divided workload, which was in fact the case. I wouldn't waste space explaining this on the common app.

No, I don't think they'll think she's slacking off. Sounds like a pretty tough schedule to me!!

My D did her own applications last fall, but I do think many colleges asked for the course scheduling for the entire year. If they only ask for first semester's, maybe she could find a place on the application to inform them about what she is taking second semester.

I hope that's true. I know how everyone says first semester grades are so important ...

My son didn't even TAKE science senior year and it didn't hurt him a bit. I wouldn't worry about it.

I tell students to either write us a note or have their GC write a note about scheduling conflicts. In some cases, those notes factor into our decision making.

Community College is her only choice, I'm sorry.
