Will this get me into Johns Hopkins?

<p>I posted this on Yahoo Answers...</p>

<p>My GPA on this is projected, but I think that it is a pretty realistic projection. (only my senior year GPA is estimated)</p>

<p>Info:
Freshman GPA: 3.4, with all the hardest courses (I really screwed up this year)
Sophomore GPA: 3.86 with all the hardest courses
Junior GPA: 4.23 weighted (IB weight)
Senior GPA: 4.2 weighted</p>

<p>My IB classes:
IB Chinese HL
IB English SL
IB Math Hl
IB Biology HL
IB Chemistry HL
IB Psychology SL</p>

<p>I am a full diploma student</p>

<p>Extracurricular Activities:</p>

<p>Student Reporter for 2 school newspapers, with many published articles 4 years
Swimming and Badminton team member 4 years
Habitat for Humanity 4 years, Chair for 2 years
AIME 2 years
AMC 10, 12 for 4 years
School Math team
Founder and President of the school Esperanto club, with about 40 members
Lots and lots of service hours (more than 200)
I'm in my school's orchestra and have played in over 25 concerts, and more than 30 concerts with my quartet
I'm in the International Honor Orchestra, and did regional honor orchestra playing
MUN (model united nations) 4 years, 2 years as an officier</p>

<p>My school is ultra competitive, and almost everybody goes to top 50 universities</p>

<p>How good of a shot do I have at Johns Hopkins Early Decision?</p>

<p>It depends on your SAT scores dude. Nail those and you’ll have a chance.</p>

My SAT was high 2300s (I think like 2380)
lost a couple of points on writing</p>

<p>I’m Asian, so I must have a high SAT score :D</p>

<p>THen I think you have a good shot. Just make sure you do the app right. Write good essays, meet with a regional rep, apply early, etc. Your freshman year won’t hurt you.</p>

<p>“A good shot” doesn’t mean you’re in, though. Like all schools that reject more qualified applicants than it accepts, you can’t count on it. Please be sure to pick safeties that you can afford and love as well.</p>

<p>Hopkins tends to choose students based on whether or not the applicant would “fit” on campus. They reject qualified applicants all the time (as with most top schools), so I would say you definitely have a shot, but it depends on your overall application, essays, etc. Good luck!</p>
