In my essay i said Nixon was impeached, but really he was really about to be impeached so he just resigned.

It says on collegeboars you aren't penalized for historical inaccuracy.

Does anyone know if this will hurt my score.

Don’t worry.

Historical inaccuracies and made-up examples have a negligible effect on your score.
As long as you tied it into your thesis, you should be fine~

i never dared to make up so-called “historical events” though :P

Yeah i didn’t make anything up - it was just a slight technicality - my essay was mainly focusing on that people were happy just because he got the ef out of office because the court gave him no choice. I wasn’t really focusing on how he got out…

Richard Nixon WAS impeached. The House of Representatives passed articles of impeachment against Richard Nixon (three of them in fact), in July, 1974. He then was to be tried before the Senate, but he resigned before that trial could take place.

Clinton was going to do the same thing, had he not been acquitted of both charges…

Impeachment is not a removal from office, but a formal accusation of wrongdoing against an elected official. So, yes he was impeached. But like what the guy above me said, he resigned before the trials.

Oh cool - thanks guys…calmed my nerves down

HE WAS NOT IMPEACHED ajshlfjdnjka
Gah. Sorry. I wrote a paper on this last year.

The House Judiciary Committee drew up the three articles and approved them, but the full House of Representatives did not have a chance to vote. Mr. Nixon conveniently resigned before the House vote AND the Senate trial could occur. Nobody officially voted but the committee.

And no, you don’t get penalized for false information. It can, however, have a psychological effect on the reader… but most people don’t know whether Nixon was impeached or not (and a lot of people think he was) so I think you’re fine.

Yeah thanks I was telling some people about my essay before I wrote and no one noticed - but I just hope the readers realize impeachment was imminent. It would suck to get points off for that when really I was just saying that people were happy he just ■■■■ of office
