I’m in my sophomore year at cc and last semester I decided to switch my major. I was going to do nursing but I wasn’t interested in becoming a nurse and that’s what my parents thought I should do. Currently I have 4 withdrawals, one D in anatomy, and failed a math upgrading class twice (third time I took it I passed with a C). Thankfully I found a University that will accept me and I decided to major in English (minor in teaching). I can get my degree but I’m worried that how I performed in my first three semesters will affect my chances of getting a job.
I think if you explain what happened and do the best you can while pursuing your degree, your job interviewer may put less emphasis on your mistakes and give more credit to your more recent achievements. After a couple of years in your first job, nobody really looks as much to transcripts and more emphasis is put on job experience.
Just do the best you can until you apply for jobs, and I think you’ll do well in your interviews! Good luck
