Of course it will look bad, it's a drop in performance and a significant one at that. That looks bad no matter where you go or what you're dealing with. The question is how that will affect your chances, right? :P There are always a huge number of factors in determining admissions, of course. Are you a URM, have good EC's, have high test scores, got high grades besides those two, have any explanation for those two classes specifically (like family problems or something, which was my case during my junior year), etc?

Also, just work harder in Pre-calc. It's not over yet, and if I've learned anything in school it's that the halfway mark is most definitely not too late to make a comeback. Past experience suggests that students who get C's generally don't get into Penn, but there's no rule about it either. Just work harder from now on, and express yourself well when you write your essays too. :)

And by the way, if you happened to get a 5 on that AP U.S. History exam, that just might help alleviate it a bit... But a C does sort of jeopardize not only your GPA but also your class rank. Hopefully you did really well otherwise.

Hey I think you got a chance bro. Just motivate yourself. I'm serious. I got a D on my first BC calc test, then I was all depressed and I got a C on my second one. I then decided to step it up and really put time in EVERY DAY. I ended up gettin 100% on almost every test afterwards bringing from a C average to a 94. So yeah. its doable just work hard

thanks both of you. :]
im not a URM or anything fireadept.
