Hi everyone! On Sunday I found out that I was accepted into OSU (Columbus campus), and now I’m wondering if/when we’ll get a traditional letter in the mail that says how to pay the acceptance fee/other info. All that I see whenever I look at my online application status and click on “Admitted” is “Congratulations, you have been admitted to Ohio State! You will receive your notice of admission soon.” Does anyone know when this will be and how we’re going to get the rest of this information?

Congratulations! My daughter is currently a freshman at OSU, so we went through the process last year. She received a hard copy acceptance letter fairly soon after the initial online notification. OSU does a superb job communicating with students and parents, and shortly you will receive a great deal of very helpful information about your next steps. Everything will be spelled out clearly for you, with timelines, etc on what to do next. OSU will communicate with you via snail mail, emails, phone calls. And you will be invited to several orientations on campus as well. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quantity and quality of communication. So sit tight for now, enjoy your most excellent news, and wait for the OSU material to start arriving!

Thank you so much @osumom2018! I’m glad to know that OSU does a lot after the admission notification to help out students with the acceptance process!

You are very welcome. I have heard that with some universities, you get an acceptance notice and then never hear much else from them.

That is certainly not the case with OSU. You will be flooded with a great deal of helpful information. OSU has an award winning First Year Experience program and it is amazing.

You and your parents will receive detailed packets, folders, bullet point timelines for each phase of the process. You will get detailed information and also short summary instructions. And then if you still have questions or any problems you can call them and they are very helpful. Everything seems highly organized and efficient.

Your parents will be on the parent email list, and will get detailed information with weekly newsletters. Then if you get into a scholars/honors program they start calling and sending you material as well!

I highly recommend if possible you attend some of the orientations which became available in January. Also there are formal freshman orientations starting in June which are amazing and there will be advisors, speakers, booths of info with freebies, etc.

The timeline seems a bit different this year. Last year they informed students of acceptance around Christmas time, in batches of 1000. This year someone posted that they notified 5000 students at Thanksgiving time and then the next round will be in January.

@OSUmom2018 thanks for the info! my family and I are on pins and needles (I got in but since I’m OOS I need the national buckeye scholarship) waiting for more news. glad to know that I’m in good hands!

My daughter received her acceptance letter this weekend - we are OOS and wondering when the scholarship info is sent out. Anyone know? Thanks!

@ncsandy, Congratulations on your acceptance to OSU! I hope you get good news on the Buckeye!

janey13, Congratulations! Last year my daughter received the Provost and Morrill. As I recall we received notice about the Provost 3 to 4 weeks after acceptance, the Morrill was several months later… but the timeline might be different this year.

How long did it take to receive your letters? I’m pretty far from Ohio, but it’s been over a week…

We are anxiously awaiting to see whether my son has been accepted to OSU. It’s his first choice so we’re very hopeful. He applied just before the 11/1 deadline. We are oos, he got a 28 act and 1230 sat. 29% in his class. Has Leadership, AP’s and on student council. The waiting is nerve wracking. How long did it take for your daughter? Any advice?

My daughter applied for early admission last year, but the timeline is different this year in terms of notifications. My advice is to stay calm and just see what happens, hard to do, I know. My daughter’s first choice was not OSU.
However OSU was really wonderful, she received scholarships, got into a scholar/honors program, there was great communication and support after acceptance. It was soon obvious that OSU was by far the best choice. She is a freshman now and totally loves OSU and all it offers her in terms of academics and social activities. She could not be happier so the lesson is to just go with the flow and see where your son gets accepted and what is offered.

Thank you. I hope I will be saying the same about my son! Take care

Thanks for the information, I was wondering the same thing. My son was just admitted this week. We just happened to check his online status-no email was sent and didn’t know when we would get the formal information

Congrats! We still have not heard and very nervous. He keeps hearing of other kids from his school getting accepted and it’s upsetting to hear nothing. This is his #1 and with these other kids, it’s not their first choice. just keep praying
