$$ will you attend Macalaster??

Now that some early financial aid packets have been sent, how many can actually afford it?
Are you happy with your package?

Happy. Thought Mac was absolutely fair.

Glad to hear it for you. We got some scholarship but no grants/need based $$. It would be a stretch for sure, especially when there are good public options for one third the cost. Mac looks great and we love the fun spirit of the place. Congratulations and good luck to you–it looks like a great place to be!

I hear you - the need for good FA was a requirement to be able to attend Mac. Best wishes to you where ever you end up!

I didn’t apply for FA, so I was just hoping for some smaller merit aid that ended up not coming through.

Of the 5 acceptances I’ve gotten thus far, Mac is by far the most expensive, so while I love the school it seems unlikely that I’ll attend.

DD received a good FA package. We are from IL-anything is probably going to be less expensive than UIUC in light of our state’s financial situation. I am sure Macalester is one of her top choices right now.

I’m low income, so I received a good deal of grant aid. Macalester is actually the cheapest option for me thus far based on the combined loan/contribution they expected. I was also accepted to Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Ursinus, and Pittsburgh (and I’m in state). Their financial aid was excellent, and right now it is among my top choices (see location).

I got a pretty decent FA package from Macalester, and I liked the feel of the campus a lot. However, I’m sure the travel costs would start to add up (I’m in New York), and my other top choice is closer gave me a great FA package, even though I didn’t love the campus. So I’m still deciding =</p>
