William and Mary Class of '10 Decisions!

im international, they emailed me :(

then i want to be international!

for once i was upset i was

first rejection...well at least its from a school i wasnt extremely into

i know what you mean. i don't think i will even consider one or two that will send me a rejection (applied so long ago that i have changed my mine about some) but i would rather be accepted and turn them down.

Decision: ACCEPTED

Intended Major: English

Cumulative SAT (best of all times taken, old & new version): 2380

GPA: 4.58 W/4.0 UW

Rank: 2/363

Location: Hampton Roads, VA

ECs: Museum volunteer, Student Government

Love to write. Essay = Shakespeare (the topic I wrote about, not "I AM Shakespeare!") Lol.

Attending: Probably not. W&M was my deepest back-up. If I do, it will be because I picked it over UVA, which I am in Echols (I got Monroe), and if I go to either of them, it will be because of finance.
Currently my best pick is Dartmouth.

Now, a word to wait-listed/rejected people...of 28 in my school, only 11 were accepted. Someone with a 4.23 W GPA was wait-listed. W&M got 11,000 applications and has 3,000 spots. A 27% acceptance rate this year! Also, the competition was much tougher for females. The school has a 45%-55% split in favor of females, that it tries to maintain. The applications came in a 35%-65% bent. Therefore, the guys had a normal (35%) chance of acceptance, while the girls had only a 23% chance. That is very nearly Ivy.

-Info from my guidance counselor.

god the matriculation rate sucks

27%...thats really significantly lower...thats makes me feel kind of good about myself for getting in...

Bjcdb:
It seems like the matriculation rate does suck...i don't know how to explain that...it might just be a coincidence that a lot of people who don't want to go are posting on CC

well 120+ people were taken off the waitlist last year-the year in which admissions really did take off, so it isn't just CC. Our administration doesn't help this either

that 23% is for ALL female applicants right...it isn't lower for OOS???

I agree... they need to figure out what to do here to get the matriculation rate up. When it comes down to it, W&M is still a public school, that most people do not dream to attend, regardless of the amazingly high level of undergraduate education.

Accepted

1 anthropology
2. 630M, 620V, 600W
3. 4.56 W

7. snowboarding, having fun with my friends, human rights activism
8. if I dont get into UVA then yes! my twin sister is going to william and mary

so like am i the only one that is planning on going if accepted? cause it is amazing how many are using wm as a backup.

well, lets just consider the kind of people who actually post on this message board. I'm sure most people who get in are going to attend, just a lot of people on this message board are more geared towards more name-brand schools... I didn't even think I was going to get into william and mary.
