William and Mary Regular Decision 2022

@ASKMother , not sure it will help, but might not hurt to make W&M aware of financial aid offer from UVA if that is better.

Our daughter was accepted to William and Mary and several excellent Liberal Arts colleges with varied scholarships.
We appealed the scholarship decision at one school letting them know how much money she received elsewhere and they gave her better money. I will say it is worth noting that William and Mary freezes its tuition so it will not rise over the 4 years. Richmond, one of my daughters other schools, for example, will raise tuition every year. So William and Mary could become relatively more affordable over time. I do think it is worth letting W & M know about the UVA offer at least.

@wineindoubt what is the intended area of study?

I was accepted as a Nueroscience major but am out of state (MD). Just realizing how great it would be to live about 45 mins south in VA and be able to get instate rates. Even with $15,000 a year in Fin. aid, W&M is still 3 times as much per year than UMBC which gave a substantial merit scholarship. With med-school aspirations it is not fiscally responsible to accrue substantial debt in undergrad. Good luck though to everyone attending W&M!

@IzzoOne @“Notreadyforthis!” thank you for your responses… she has narrowed down her top choices to URichmond and Vanderbilt … I’m not certain I’m up to begging for more money but I will tell her to let them know it was a factor when she writes to say she is accepting admission elsewhere. Good luck to all!

D2 is joining D1 at William & Mary. That sure does simplify a lot of things.

Congrats, @AWonderfulLife That is great news. And yes, it does make things much easier.

Sorry so late responding. She intends to study neuroscience or psychology with possibly pre med.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I was mia for a bit as my husband and I are cpas with our own business and had to get thru till April 17th. My daughter has made her decision and she will be attending William & Mary. Even though it was our crunch time I carted her to Hokie Focus, William & Mary’s admitted student day and Days on the Lawn. Needless to say the last 2 weeks have been crazy. These visits reconfirmed her love for William & Mary and I can’t deny it is a better fit for her. We can make it work without loans for us. She understands that she will take out the student loan offered, whereas she would not have to do that if she picked tech and that is her decision. This is the right decision for us, but everyone is different. My husband and I are not willing to take out loans or use our retirement for college, so if that had been the case she would be going to tech. And honestly, she would be fine there as well, college is what you make it, no matter where you are.

Has everybody made a decision?

My daughter is still not decided. I’m hoping she chooses WM.
