My school is located in a small town and as a result they don’t offer as many courses as larger schools. There are no Honors classes available, only Pre-AP, AP, and DE courses and there are very limited clubs and organizations available to join within my school community. However, I’ve been successful in all the higher level classes that were available for me to take and have joined most of the clubs acceptable for me to join. Do I need to explain this in my application or will they know my schools statistics and information already? If I need to explain this, how should I go about doing that?

Test scores?

Looks like you are on the right track! You have shown improvement, and by the looks of it, are pretty well-rounded as well. However, test scores can either make or break the decision so make sure you do somewhat well on the SAT or ACT!

Also, you can have your guidance counselor explain your situation in his/her report or recommendation to the school. He/she can indicate that you took the heaviest course load available at your school.

Thank you! I’m planning to take the May SAT and have been studying for months so hopefully I’ll get the scores I need!

Good luck!!! I just got admitted off of the waitlist and I’m going this fall!! I think your stats seem great, and are better than mine plus you’re in state.

It looks like you have a pretty good chance as long as your test scores match your current performance level. I was admitted regular decision this year, and I think that these stats are on par with, if not above, the average in-state applicant’s statistics. Being in-state will no doubt help you a lot.

What do you plan to do at W&M? Your essay matters a lot to W&M - it is the only thing that separates you from many others who likely have similar scores.
