Is it going to make that much of a difference if i don't write the optional essay for college of william and mary? My stats are strong for this school and i just really don't have the time with all my other applications. Will leaving it out affect my chances greatly?

anybody out there, advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think you would be fine. Key word: optional. But why not use an essay from another app if you have it written anyway? Just my $0.02

I agree with curiosukatie, why don't you just send another essay you wrote? It'll only cost you for the ink and paper to print another copy on.

Is it really worth possibly being rejected because you didn't take the time to do the whole application? (I realize it says optional, but you never know what that really means)

Having said that, W+M is not as straight forward statistically as UVA, for sake of comparison

Isn't the optional essay for W & M very open-ended, i.e., put anything you want on a piece of 8 1/2 by 11-inch paper? You must have something from another app or a writing class you could submit. Even with very strong stats, my suggestion would be to show that extra bit of effort for the school. W & M's admissions are on the bizarre side, and if you happen to be out of state from an over-represented geographic area, or are female, it's tougher to get in.

i got in to W&M ED granted I'm instate but I know me and a friend of mine did collages instead of an additional essay because the admissions people are already reading a ton of stuff so i thought it'd be interesting to make a collage of who i am and what i like.
