How many of you sent in the optional essay?

I did. From what I hear, they really want to see something creative or something that tells them who you are.

Didn't help me, obviously, since I got defferred.

i did and it showcased my love for american history....i think it helped

Thanks for your help!!!

if you don't do it you're throwing away a chance that could help you

... that said I know people at school who didn't do it.

I didn't and I was accepted.

I don't want to ruin any chance I might have of getting accepted into W & M, so I am going to send something.

The prompt is "what makes you unique and colorful". I really don't feel like writing another essay so I am thinking about printing the first page of my web site and sending that in. It tells about my organization and has photos, so that should be okay.

i did it--i felt like i needed to express myself a little more, like i wasn't showing through--i'm glad they have the optional. anything that'll help is worth a try!

Changed my mine and send a photcopy of a collage I made last year. Application is now DONE! Gee, it feels good!

i didnt do it and got accepted but if i had a single creative bone in my body i definitely would have done it

i wrote an essay.. well kinda. it was about as informal as essays come - alot of my thoughts in quotations and funny points. i didn't think it was the creative, others disagreed. it was a picture (of me, twirling) and a really long caption (basically.) but, it didn't take long, and i got in. i figured i needed as much help as i could find - if i were still getting my app together, i would do it.

I am happy with my decision. It was colorful, creative and truly an extension of my personality. I hope they don't mind receiving a color copy instead of the original. The original took too much time and I did not want to part with it. Hopefully they will understand.

for the one page "creative submission", i sent in a picture of a costume that i worked on for 2 months straight for our school's homecoming spirit week. you can find pictures at www.xanga.com/qtxpimp. i made sure to include a few lines explaining what it meant, just so the admission officers would actually understand what was going on. =)

That was GREAT! Thanks for sharing.

Oh TJ homecoming..
