William & Mary vs. Berkeley

Which is better for undergrad not totally decided on major (maybe business)?
Which is the "better" school? (just curious what you think)
I feel more at home at W&M but is Berkeley more prestigious?
Cost the same.

I would opt for Berkeley all things being equal, especially for business.

Alright, choose where you feel comfortable, not prestige.

Cal is more prestigious on west coast. W&M is more prestigious on east coast. Two very different schools. Pick the one that fits you best.

^^^Oh sure. UCB>W&M over the majority of the country for business.

If you’re positive that you are doing business, Berkeley clearly wins (except maybe along the middle of the East Coast due to alumni connections). If you are doing something else where undergraduate research and interaction with professors may be more beneficial, W&M would win.

But yeah, they are quite different. Different climates, different populations, different strengths, and different campus cultures. Have you visited both?

I love W + M but I would think that Berkeley would be more prestigious throughout the country.

I’m looking at your username…are you from Alaska? If so, the flight to W&M alone would be a deciding factor!
The two schools are so different in almost every way…which environment is more appealing to you?

Berkeley hands down.

“W&M is more prestigious on east coast.”

I disagree. Berkeley goes a long way GLOBALLY.

Prestige is in the eye of the beholder. Some will be impressed with W&M, others with California. That should be your last criterion in deciding. You said, you felt more at home with W&M, then you have already answered your question. Cal gets a lot of press from their grad programs, which is not relevant to your experience as an undergrad. W&M is the most dedicated undergrad public in America. Agree with other poster re two very different schools. Both highest quality. Pick where you want to live for four years and you cant lose. Best of luck.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. Cal’s undergrad programs get a lot of press too. This one might be relevant for the OP:

And it’s not just business. Berkeley offers more breadth and depth than W&M.

Doc hit it right on the head. Both great schools, but very, very different schools. You have to very naive to take “rankings” seriously. Whichever one fits you best is the best option for you. I have a bias for W&M, but having two alums in the Obama cabinet is fairly “prestigious”. Christina Rohmer came from UCB faculty, so obviously Cal administrators are impressed with W&M as well:) Be true to yourself and you cant go wrong.

W&M, as you like it more.
