My daughter is deciding between W&M and GW. Finances are an issue and because we are out of state at W&M and GW was more generous, W &M is going to cost about 16k more. My daughter is leaning more towards W&M because she believes it is more prestigious & other reasons. I am favoring GW because of finances and because I believe that GW has more to offer as a larger university and because of its location in DC. I think my daughter would really enjoy living in DC more vs Williamsburg. What is your opinion?

GW has a lot of hidden costs that you should also consider. D.C. is one of the most expensive cities to live in, particularly around Foggy Bottom.

That being said, while W&M is probably a little more prestigious, it isn’t so much better that you should mortgage her future to attend. But be weary of how expensive GW is on paper vs. how expensive it would actually be to attend.

Hi - a great problem to have to decide between two great schools. One thing to consider is the extensive programs we offer in our Washington office. We have about 150 students each year takes classes in DC on a wide variety of subjects. You can find more at wm.edu/dcoffice.

^^ Mr. Adam A, Why don’t you give OP some incentive, like 16K more FA, to attend your DC office, problem solved…
