I have been accepted to William & Mary and UVA. I plan to major in philosophy and intend to pursue either a masters in architecture, with an emphasis on theory, or a PhD in philosophy. Does anyone know which school has a better philosophy department and/or would present a better opportunity of being accepted into a strong graduate program.

As always this is a toss-up these are two wonderful schools. Each has a different “character” and appeals to a different type of student.

That said W&M is ranked extremely high for students attending graduate and professional schools. 69% IIRC could not find the data. Va not as high but of course that is skewed by the liberal arts focus ast W&M ( where 50% of the most selecitve LA schools’ students attend Grad school)

IMO, you should choose based on something other than academics. The difference is negligible. Which environment did you like better? Charlottesville or Williamsburg? Bigger school or smaller school? etc
