william putnam competition

Hello. I recently heard of the putnam competition. but how does one prepare for it? is practicing with national and olympiad problems helpful? do you have any suggested books? thank you.

The William Lowell Putnam exam is an undergraduates mathematics competition. I don't think grad students are eligible for it. Most colleges have some sort of class to help prepare. People who do well on it have usually been involved in nat'l or int'l math olympiads in high school.
