Does anyone know if Williams sends mail to those who get accepted?
Can everyone check their portal? My portal just added a new thing to my application list saying “awaiting” for Mid Year Report. I applied ED. What does this mean??? Agh!!
The Mid Year Report is essentially your first semester grades; I am under the impression that it is due next February.

Yes, but I believe we still need to send a Mid Year Report so that Williams can reflect on aspects of our academic performance, like whether or not we failed any classes.

Yes, but the decision comes out tomorrow. Why would they request our mid year report and make it due two months after the release of ED decisions? I understand that they want to evaluate us, but I don’t know if I was accepted, deferred, or denied yet. I’m assuming not flat out denied because why would they ask for mid years if I had been denied? Does this mean acceptance? deferral?
Honestly, I’m in your same position of pure uncertainty; there isn’t much room for me to speculate, and I’d rather not potentially lead you on with hollow assumptions. We will surely find out tomorrow though. I would not worry about it until then.

Has anyone’s portal NOT been updated? I do think its a little odd they would update them the night before decisions come out, so I’m hoping that them requesting a midyear report is a good thing.

The update could either mean that you were accepted and they want to confirm your grades or that you were wait-listed and they actually need your grades to make a decision. Really no point in calling it early since it could be either…
I just checked the portal again and they removed it. Interesting. Oh well, no point in freaking out. I’ll find out soon enough.
I’m now 99% sure I am being deferred (after the midyear report thing popped up briefly). Did some research and it appears that, at other schools, only deferred candidates have to send a midyear report. Those who are accepted or rejected both do not- accepted candidates only need to send final grades.
I am dubious of that. The admission site has a list of application requirements–even specifying which ones are only for Early Decision applicants–and Mid Year Report is indeed a requirement, but that is due February 10th, 2017. So you may have not been deferred. We really won’t know until tomorrow.
I wouldn’t read anything into this either. Although DD did not see the update, it sounds like it was so transient that it could just be that she missed it while it was up. Probably just a glitch. Good luck everyone!
super nervous! i applied to williams ED and am scared of the far left liberals there. i must remain tru to my conservative beliefs
