Williams college tips for incoming freshmen? Experience with preorientation trips?

Looking for any input about pre-orientation programs at Williams College for incoming Students. Our son will be starting this fall. He will also be playing baseball there.

try the Williams forum for specific info

My nephew went to Williams and went on one of the trips, he had a great experience and it helped him adjust socially.

I didn’t go on a trip (I was injured at the time) but I wish I’d been able to do so. They’re really great by all accounts, and a good way to make some friends outside your freshman entry.

Thanks!

My son had a great time on his first year WOOLF trip. It was a wonderful way to meet some of his classmates in a very relaxed setting and to get an introduction to the Outing Club and other outdoorsy activities that are integral to Williams’ personality. He liked it so much he went back the next year as a leader.

Thanks for your input. I think he may look into that session.

D also did the Woolf advanced hiking trip last summer/fall and loved it so much she will be a Woolf leader for next year. They take small (usually 10 students) groups of first years guided by two (male and female) very well trained leaders. The kids get close very fast – it’s an empowering way to start the first year of college.
