3) I realized in November that I should have applied to Williams ed - I had already decided to turn down H/Y, but it's not like they gave me much of a choice :o- I would have been taking someone else's spot there, though, so really it turned out as well as I could have wished for.

I realized that those were the schools I really truly wanted to go to, for academics/running/social life, and I don't know how happy I would have been with a gap year, but I was sort of prepared to do it. I didn't want to apply somewhere I didn't want to go.

Getting off BC's waitlist, staying on Yale's waitlist. My top choices are Williams and Wellesley and I should hear back from Amherst, another favorite, today.

3)
Probably Amherst, Bowdoin, or Haverford. I'll know more after I visit a lot of schools this month, but really I don't know how I'll ever make a decision. May 1 is too damn soon, hopefully it won't come down to financial aid.

1) Accepted
2) Northwestern (Medill) - Accepted
Harvard - rejected
Brown - waitlisted
Columbia - rejected
Georgetown SFS - rejected
Missouri-Columbia (j-school) - accepted
American - Accepted

3) I'm staying on the waitlist at Brown and praying beyond hope that I get in and they give me enough money. Realistically it's between Missouri, Northwestern and Williams but Brown please, please make my day! And May 1 is crazy! I can't make a decision by then; I just want to go everywhere!

3) I'm down to Carleton, Princeton, and Haverford ... there are many, many pros and a couple cons to all three, while the others had just enough cons to tip the scale against them
