Windows or Mac for Pitt?

Are there any strong reasons to go windows vs mac for an undecided freshman at Pitt? My daughter will be starting in fall, currently undecided, but likely will end up doing something with math. She prefers mac as that’s what we have at home and she has an iPhone. I prefer windows because of price (though personally I prefer linux, but that’s not really a good option!)

Are there any classes that might end up requiring one or the other? What do most students have?

It doesn’t really matter if you use a mac or a windows machine. D1 got through six years of undergrad and pharmacy school with a single MacBook. D2 got through five years of architecture (at Penn State) with a single MacBook Pro. When she needed to use a windows program, she installed it in a separate Windows partition on her MacBook.

If your daughter is more comfortable with a Mac, I’d lean that way.
