Windows Vista!

so pretty much if we want dx10 compatible laptops, we have to WAIT, right?

Well, yea. You'll have to buy a laptop with a DX10 card.:D

It sucks, but I have a desktop for that.

:( im going to college and wont be able to afford both
sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!
why would a Go 7700 not be not good enough, jeez!1!

and isnt the 8800 series the only dx10 card out there right now?

runningncircles: do you have any useful links to websites where I can learn more about linux. right now, i'm using kubuntu, the easy noobie variant of linux but i'd like to get into it more.

apparently linux can run everything..

runningncircles1 = Linux fanboy! :D

Linux can run a whole lot of freeware, shareware, and homebrew with a lot less hassle, is what I've heard, but the better features of Linux are not exactly friendly to the average user...

IMO, anyway.

for me, the problem with linux has been the lack of easy to understand documentation. most articles i find are incomplete is some respect or another.

i was wondering if there was any variant runningncircles would recommend using. fedora core is there and so is openSUSE but i'm not sure of the number of developers for either and how many of these people are active. hoping he could share some of the interesting websites he frequents.

What stinks is that they are forcing Vista on people who buy a new computer these days, instead of giving them the option. The best time to buy a computer was during those months where you could get a free upgrade to Vista, because then you're getting two operating systems for the price of one.

And I've seen the specs of some of those computers that they are sticking Vista on, will those things even run worth a darn?

My plan is to get Vista, then probably save up for a new cheap HDD, so that I can dual boot without having to reformat my current one (the recovery partition on it worries me, I'm wondering if that would survive a repartitioning).

I know. I don't even think I'll be able to run aero on my laptop. If I can, then my pc will probably run much slower than with XP.
