Winter Olympics 2022

Was anyone else as excited as I was to see the “old folks” win the team snowboard cross? He was so bummed with himself when he didn’t medal in the individual. He was thrilled to get the chance (just 24 hours beforehand) to do the team event, and you could tell that he wanted to do his very best to make his family proud. That is the sort of thing that makes me love the Olympics.

Who’d have thought that snow could disrupt events at the Winter Olympics. LOL

I woke up to the beginning of the competition. Very excited for Erin Jackson! I had watched qualifying and was heartbroken for her. I’m so glad she got the chance to compete!!!

I’ve been closely following the Winter Olympics since Lake Placid 1980 and have been extremely lucky to get to two different Winter Olympics.

I watched this just after the end of the Super Bowl (go Rams!). Delighted to see USA get Gold and Silver.

But “monobob”?..is this a new term? I’ve never heard this before until watching the finals just now. While I’m been to a few Olympics, I am clearly no expert at any of the events. Just curious about the name of this event.

Yes this is new for this year. Just the women do the monobob instead of the 4 man in the Olympics.

I am curious, do the men and women compete in the same number of events?

I don’t think so. Here’s the answer for bobsledding:

“At the 2022 Winter Olympics, only women will compete in monobob. The event was added as a way to help equalize the men’s and women’s bobsled events, but even with monobob, they aren’t exactly equal. Men compete in a two-man and four-man event, while women have a two-woman and monobob competition.”

I also think there are differences in the numbers in each event. Only 10 women’s hockey teams are in the tournament but there are 12.

Ice dancing was spectacular. My husband was p’d off that the Americans did not win the gold. IMO, the French deserved their gold medals.

The French were fabulous. Both American teams skated extremely well, and they should be very proud.

Lol. My husband’s take on the US monobob 1-2 medals… “Put these two women together, and they can push a rocket into space!” :muscle::muscle:

I have a huge problem with the Russian skater being allowed to skate tonight. Yes, she is phenomenal. But the machine behind her is simply allowed to continue, whether it’s called Russia or ROC. Guess the gloves are off & anything goes (for certain countries, anyway).

The entire decision makes zero sense. Denying the other medal winners a ceremony if she makes the podium?
I have no desire to watch her compete.
